# References and Connections

Connections show where a target node gets its prompt or reference material. Keeping these relationships visible makes it easier to understand why a result looks the way it does.

### Create a connection

1. Select a node to reveal its connection handles.
2. Drag from a handle to another node.
3. Alternatively, drop on an empty area to create a connected node.
4. You can also type **@** in a supported prompt and select an eligible canvas asset.

Connections can carry text, images, videos, and first- or last-frame roles. Infinite Canvas prevents a new connection if it would create a reference cycle.

### Keep the canvas readable

Use **Show all connections / Hide connections** in the lower-left controls. When connections are hidden globally, selecting a node reveals the relationships relevant to that node.

Remove a reference from the generation panel or delete its connection.
