# Image Nodes

Use Image nodes to create storyboard frames, character references, environments, props, style studies, and visual variations.

### Generate an image

1. Select an Image node.
2. Enter a prompt.
3. Choose an image model.
4. Adjust the controls offered by that model.
5. Select **Generate**.

Depending on the model, controls may include aspect ratio, adaptive sizing, resolution, quality, negative prompt, prompt expansion, and multiple references.

### Generate from references

Connect Text, Image, or Video nodes to the target Image node. You can also type **@** in a supported prompt field and select an eligible canvas asset. If it is not already connected, Infinite Canvas creates the reference connection for you.

When image references are present, the generator can use an image-to-image path. Reference limits and accepted media types depend on the selected model.

### Image node actions

* Upload or replace an image
* Generate a result or variation
* Reference the image from another Image or Video node
* Use the image as a first frame, last frame, or visual reference for video
* Rename, download, duplicate, or delete the node
